Elaina Smith; "Comfortable? An interactive art installation;" Poly-fil, donuts, milk
There
are never any guarantees in life.
Sometimes
comfort can be found in the most unexpected places, while a situation that
seems so familiar and comfortable can easily be turned against us.
In these cases, the element of surprise
amplifies
the
experience. A happiness is made more special, a disappointment more unsettling,
when we are expecting the opposite.

This piece is such a fun way to activate an empty space. It looks like you were really successful in taking a boring empty space and completely changing the feel and functionality of it. I think this piece would be heavily utilized if it was in our art building here, especially if food was involved. It really just has a lighthearted and playful feeling to it. You might try to enhance that playfulness in the surrounding brick wall even more somehow, possibly through color or sound, to make it more inviting.
ReplyDeleteThis piece was extremely fun to experience. I didn't want to leave it. I wanted to stay all day!!!
