Project 3: Bonil
Deidre Daniel; Katie Knight; Zach Plocica

A commentary on access to information, this installation pays tribute to the political cartoonist Bonil—a strong advocate for freedom of speech who recently came under fire from the Ecuadorian government for criticism of a public official—with a similar sense of humor.  Striving for a trompe l’oeil effect, this piece unites multiple realities, juxtaposing the man reading his morning newspaper next to students and others who sit on the nearby bench, equally absorbed with the information projected on their cell phones.  All in all, it speaks to the possibilities of accessing all kinds of information in one place and of sharing this information, including our thoughts, ideas, critique and opinions, through various outlets, such as Twitter, Facebook, Google, Yahoo!, etc.,with the entire world.
